Description
Appears to be in her early 30’s which is reflective of her age when she became a Cyborg, but she carries closer to 30-40 years of memories. She is about 5’8”, though much of her footwear gives her an extra inch or two. Although she appears to be about 150 pounds, and moves as though she weighs that much, her true weight is much closer to 225. Well groomed, silver eyes long hair falling mid way down her back. Naturally a dark brown/black color though she has the ability to change by use of the nanocytes in her hair. Ciris has an attractively proportioned well toned athletic body and usually wears snug clothing as she prefers ease of movement and not being tangled up in larger baggy clothes. Her voice is a much more ‘normal’ voice with typically aggressive overtones. Personality: Impulsive, aggressive, direct, bullheaded. Often described as a ‘shoot first and ask questions later’ individual, Ciris has a tendency to be highly abrasive and those who do not know her that well are often quick to believe she is one to seek out confrontation just for the sake of it’s existence. This is not entirely true and highlights a misapplication of Ciris’s force of will as she sometimes lacks either the self awareness of how she comes across to others or the empathy to care. When confronted, Ciris tends to respond very instinctually and very bullheadedly and does not often moderate her use of force to the situation. This has gotten her into trouble many times in the past. These tendencies manifested fairly early after her awakening. Based on her own words as well as the observations of her colleagues and mental health professionals around her, these tendencies began through a self imposed desire not only learn her limits as an augmented cyborg but also to push them as far as she could. While this does not directly explain her abrasive attitude it is believed that a certain level of superiority complex has rooted within her, leaving her to feel as though those around her are not as important as she is because she is a special and unique case. In the aftermath of the Cybrosis incident, these tendencies have moderated somewhat and while they do remain in Ciris and do manifest, they are far less problematic than they once were. She has, by all observations, mellowed in the weeks and months since. She has also become more of a social person in the aftermath, choosing to spend time with her friends and colleagues rather than remain a proverbial hermit. Habits/Mannerisms: Likes the phrase ‘son of a bitch’ Sarchasm Distinguishing Feature(s): Silver irised eyes, silver metallic blood.
Background
Biography:
If you were to ask her, Ciris would tell you she was born Valerie Cates into a very healthy family. She would tell you that in her youth she was the middle child to an older brother and a younger sister, that her father is an experimental avionics designer, and that her mother a talented, singer, pianist, and violist. Ciris would tell you that for as long as she could remember she was always interested in serving the public interest and while her early desires were to go into politics, she ultimately abandoned that drive in order to pursue a career in active duty military. She would tell you she completed an two years of college before transferring to officer candidates school where in 2125 her actions during a combat simulation stood out to a CNSCP recruiter who approached her and offered her the opportunity to work at the federal level. Realizing she did not prefer the rigidity of the military chain of command, she accepted the opportunity and left the academy before graduation, entered into the internal CNSCP training protocols. Ciris would tell you she started work as an analyst and moved through the training with concurrent, relevant promotions ultimately to field agent in September of 2130. Ciris would also tell you that during this time she adopted the name “Ciris” as a way to protect her family from reprisal for her actions and then met Agent Tyson. The two fell in love and married in 2131. Their marriage remained strong and successful until February 14, 2133. It was on that night when a mission led by Tyson was sabotaged by an unknown assailant. The attack resulted in a severe car accident that sent Ciris and Tyson over a mountain cliff. Killing him, and severely injuring her. Ciris was resurrected and fitted with a cybernetic body by CNSCP R&D Director Tecgui. For as vivid and real as these memories are to Ciris, they are, in fact, a complete fabrication.
The truth, is a far more dangerous story in terms of it’s potential ramifications. The consciousness, known as “Ciris” came into existence in 2133 as the result of a government experiment in Artificial intelligence and human memory mapping. Ciris’s memories are, in fact, an amalgamation of the life and experiences of several individuals including Director Briggs’ daughter. These memories were grafted onto an experimental AI matrix and allowed to take hold in as much of a ‘natural’ way as could be possibly done. Once the A.I., known now as Ciris, assimilated the memories into a timeline and through them began to self identify, the inconsistencies of the memories were ironed out, the AI put to sleep and an artificial body constructed to house the AI into a human form. At the same time a construct memory of the car accident was inserted as a way to transition Ciris’ experience from the memories of her ‘life’ as a human being to her new existence as a physical entity.
The early days and weeks after her awakening, termed ‘conversion’, Ciris displayed high levels of anxiety and depression. To her mind she was grieving for the loss of her husband, as well as the loss of the potential for a family while at the same time coping with her new existence in a cybernetic shell and learning how to function. This ‘rehabilitation’ and re-training lasted a little over ten months and Ciris began work as a field agent. The first six years of her field work were often marked by a streak of aggressive, overly violent tendencies that would have gotten any other agent kicked out. They would have gotten Ciris removed from duty were it not for the significant investment put into her. However, six years later, things changed.
In October of 2139, Ciris botched a mission that should have been routine for someone of her skills. Although the initial response to the failure was quickly assumed to be another in a long litany of events in which Ciris failed to use sufficient discretion, further investigation indicated that Ciris’ suspect was, in actuality another augmented Cyborg. As the investigation progressed, Ciris found herself in the middle of a conspiracy set against her that led her face to face with Dr. Xavier Allenrod, AKA Cybrosis during his bid to attack and destroy the CNSCP. Ciris and her partner at the time, Agent Chen Min Weh were successful in their efforts to stop Cybrosis the victory came at an incredible emotional cost to Ciris. During the course of her fight with Cybrosis he revealed to her that he had been the cause of the car crash that killed Tyson and forced Ciris into her cybernetic body. These events are detailed in Cybrosis: A codename Ciris Conspiracy.
Why Allenrod would admit guilt in an event that did not, in fact occur, still remains unclear, but whatever his motives may have been, the revelation caused a programmed failsafe to trigger, which momentarily sent Ciris over the edge. Although she was brought back by the same failsafe, the incident left an indelible mark on her psyche and in the days and weeks after the event, Ciris took an extended leave to find herself. When she returned she was sent to Monaco on a surveillance assignment and partnered with Agent Barrett while Chen continued to recover from her injuries. By all accounts, the operation went extremely well what started as a three day stakeout, quickly turned into a three week project during which time Ciris and Barrett worked very closely even to the point of assuming the role of newlyweds and by the time the operation drew to a close, the two agents had become romantically involved.
Unfortunately for Ciris, the relationship did not end well when Barrett disappeared, having returned early to base to deliver the gathered intelligence, and then to immediately turn around without saying good bye to her. While this act did earn him Ciris’ ire, her attention was soon diverted to a special task force that Briggs had assigned her to lead. This team’s initial operational objective was designated to run down and eliminate the cybernetic black market that had cropped up in the wake of SMT’s leaking of cybernetic technology through an under the table sale to the late Dr. Leon Quincy. With Agent Chen Min Weh at her side once again, Ciris stepped up and took command of this unit. With Chen at her side once again, Ciris proved highly successful in infiltrating and destroying the market. Eventually the task force’s direction was pointed towards VR space where the kingpins in the market had been forced to retreat. However with Ciris’ enhanced systems, even this obstacle proved, easily handled and after almost a year had passed since the Cybrosis incident, Ciris led an operation to take down the last of the kingpins within a construct known as “Club Singularity”.
However, her actions were not without consequences as her take down garnered the attention of Serelle, an individual who would prove to be just as formidable an opponent as Xavier Allenrod had once been.
Personal Timeline:
January 2, 2133 - Project Delphi successfully spins the recorded memories of several volunteers into a single consciousness.
February 28, 2133 - Having assumed a female persona and calling itself Ciris, the Project Delphi consciousness is deemed self aware and is merged with a prototype cybernetic body after it is given a female form.
September 1, 2133 - After several months of ‘rehabilitation’ and believing herself to be recovering after a brutal car accident which claimed the life of her husband, Ciris is certified for active field duty.
October 23 - November 4, 2139 - The Events of Cybrosis
November 15, 2139 - January 3, 2140 - Ciris takes personal leave, first to convalesce and recuperate from the emotional impact of the Cybrosis incident, then to enjoy the holiday season.
January 28 - February 22, 2140 - Ciris is assigned to a stake out mission in Monaco. The operation teams her with CNSCP Agent Barrett and although it is intended to last only a couple of days, circumstances demand the extension of the operation. During this time, Ciris and Barrett become emotionally close and physically intimate. For Ciris, this represents the first romantic encounter she has had since her husband’s death. It also represents significant heartbreak when Barrett returns home a day early without saying goodbye to her, and then immediately volunteers for a longer term deep cover operation.
March 1, 2140 - Struggling to stay ahead of and continue the dismantling of the cybernetic black market revealed during the Cybrosis incident, Director Briggs gives Ciris command of her own task force. This unit’s primary assignment is to suss out and dismantle the cybernetic black market inadvertently started by SMT. Over the next several months the team works this assignment, as well as other operations as needed. Eventually the investigation leads to a virtual reality construct known only as Club Singularity.

Skeletal and Muscular Systems
Ciris’ skeletal Chassis, is modeled after that of a normal human female, but modified to accommodate her biological and cybernetic systems. Vestigial structures that do not affect outward appearance have been removed, though all other necessary bone structures have been preserved to allow her full range of motion in all of her joints. For the most part, her bones have been reinforced with a metallic alloy that makes them far stronger and considerably harder to fracture or break than the biological equivalent.
Ciris’s muscular system is almost entirely biosynthetic. Although they are not mechanical constructs in the same way as one of Ciris’s implants, they were artificially grown into her cybernetic body. Like their biological component, Ciris’s musculature system requires both oxygen and organic energy, thus necessitating her need to consume and digest food. Her muscular system grants her a notable increase in both raw strength and endurance.
Nervous System As with any Cyborg, Ciris's central nervous system is primarily biological. How the CNSCP was able to procure a biological brain and spinal cord, preserve it, and install it into a cybernetic body is unknown, but it is suspected that a donor body was provided and converted for the purposes of installing the Ciris AI. Connections between Ciris’s brain and her more autonomic nervous system is maintained through a vast array of internal networking that links her brain with her on board computing systems with her autonomic functions. Ciris’ tactical sensation is administered through a layer of synthetic skin over bio-neural sheeting connected to her Central nervous system. This sheeting is more dense than a standard human biological nervous system and, as such, affords Ciris the double edged sword of increased sensitivity to external stimuli. However, as it too is routed through her on board computing system, it also grants Ciris the quirk of being able to adjust the sensitivity from it’s baseline of ‘human standard’. Adjustments of this nature have no other affect on her motor functions.
Internal Organs Every major internal organ in Ciris’s system has been either augmented or fully replaced with a biosynthetic equivalent. This write up will not go into excessive detail over each organ. However, it is important to note that Ciris’s internal organs are, like the rest of her body, enhanced in their ability to do their jobs. Ciris has a high metabolism, an above average lung capacity, and function as well as a higher level of heart function. At it’s normal levels of operation her liver will not permit her to become intoxicated, though that specific system can be adjusted up or down accordingly (and Ciris has in fact lowered that level). On the topic of her lungs, Ciris’ alveoli exchange gasses at an extremely efficient rate and can, for a limited time, filter necessary oxygen out of otherwise non breathable atmospheres, such as water, toxic gas and the like. This is intended mostly as an emergency measure and is not rated to be relied on or even used for more than 10-15 minutes, at which time the scrubbers will saturate and will need to be serviced.
Power and digestive systems Ciris's cybernetic components are powered by a Compacted Lead Cooled Fast Reactor (LCFR). However instead of using a water/steam turbine/condenser system to turn a generator, the heat generated in the lead-bismuth eutectic coolant is absorbed through a series of Thermoelectric Junctions (TEJ) connected directly to the main reactor housing and convert the heat into electrical energy that can be stored in nearby batteries and capacitors. This design differs from standard LCFR's by removing the heat exchangers, the water assembly, the cooling subassembly, and of course the spinning turbines, pumps, and generators. leaving a far more condensed device with the only moving parts being the control rods.
As for safety, the control rod assembly is controlled via computer taking it's input from both Ciris's autonomic systems, as well as her on board computer giving her the option to override the system and generate more energy than her body thinks she is going to need. This system is also fully capable of being shut down entirely for maintenance purposes. In the event of a catastrophic scenario wherein the computer controlling the control rods is either disconnected or disabled, a series of Scram Rods will be mechanically deployed to shut down the reactor immediately. The Scram Rods are spring loaded for just such an event where the springs are connected to a powered solenoid. If the solenoid loses it's charge, the magnetic fields holding the springs in place is lost, the springs are released, and the Scram Rods are deployed to shut the reactor down safely.
The reactor is fueled by a just slightly larger than critical mass of Neptunium 236. It is estimated that Ciris's systems consume as much as much as 8,000 kJ of energy per hour, thus requiring an approximate sustained output of 2kW. Based on these estimations it is presumed that Ciris carries enough fuel to sustain her for between 10-15 years, though servicing at much more frequent intervals is required. Due to the design of the LCFR system, the fuel and rods are assembled together in a convenient cartridge that can be easily swapped out and replaced without having to service the entire core.
Ciris also can consume power through a specially designed wrist/arm brace that attaches to her left forearm and connects to her utility pod assembly. Once affixed to her arm, the brace can be connected via traditional wires to a power source or it can be configured for electromagnetic induction with a range of up to ten feet. This brace configuration is intended as an alternative power supply for Ciris during times where her reactor is being serviced, or is not functioning at sustaining levels. The brace is not intended to be a permanent fixture or a primary source of power. In the event Ciris' systems produce too much energy and an emergency dump action is required, the excess will be shunted to the utility pod where it can either be vented out through the installed heat sinks, or channeled into the weapon module and discharged as weapons fire.
Despite the power provided by the LCFR to her cybernetic and mechanical systems, the biological elements in her body do still require organic nourishment in order to sustain them. As a result, Ciris does need to consume food and is equipped with functional digestive system which allows Ciris to consume food, take in it’s nourishment, and supplement the LCFR at her core.
Tactical and Combat Systems
Her own personal training and combat experience notwithstanding, Ciris's systems provide several tactical and combat advantages. From the defensive standpoint, Ciris has only two main resources that serve to prevent or mitigate physical damage she might sustain. The first lays in her reinforced skeletal and enhanced muscular system which provides a greater durability and higher resistance to fractures, dislocations and breaks. Her second defensive system which, in truth, is more of a maintenance system is her Nanocyte system. Ciris’ sliver blood is laced with millions of microscopic nanocytes which serve to repair and maintain her cybernetic and biological systems. They are capable of accelerating the healing process to the point where an injury that might take several days or weeks to heal can be addressed in a matter of hours or days. Due to security upgrades made after the Cybrosis incident, the Nanocyte system is slower to respond than the previous generation of nanoids. However, once they do activate, they operate at a much higher efficiency.
Ciris’s primary offensive system lays in the utility module built into her left arm. While it is technically an open port into which many different modules can be installed depending on need, Ciris keeps it as an on board weapon blaster module ensuring that she is always armed. This weapon system discharges energy blasts similar to her standard issue PEBs and, when deployed, can be fired with a mere thought. During the Cybrosis incident, this module was augmented with a grappling piton and cable, allowing Ciris the option to arrest her falls and assist her in necessary climbing efforts.
Last but certainly not least, Ciris’ eyes have been augmented into ocular implants. These implants not only allow her the standard vision of a normal human being, but they also serve as her own personal HUD. Through these implants, Ciris can immediately see a wide variety of tactical data over laid with her normal field of view. Additionally, the implants permit her to see in multiple visual spectra including Night vision/Low light vision/Infrared, standard heat, and x-ray. It also provides light filter protection from damaging sources such as UV, allowing her to look directly at dangerous sources of light without sustaining damage to her ability to see.
Misc Systems Ciris sports enhanced hearing through her cochlear implants. These implants do not allow her to hear ultra or subsonic frequencies, but they do allow her a much crisper auditory experience and she can hear things at a greater distance than most normal humans. While there has been discussion to expand her spectra of hearing beyond the traditional sonic ranges, no effort has been made to execute the project. Finally, Ciris’s hair follicles have been laced with Chromatic nanocytes capable of changing her hair color and length to meet her personal preference with a mere thought. More than just a fashion statement, these nanocytes were and are intended for use in tactical infiltration and to assist in quick appearance changes for covert ops purposes Visual References: Olivia Wilde - Headshot
